Some of my favourite board games!
Terraforming Mars
Terraforming Mars is a grand strategy engine building board game! Each player is a corporation who must build wealth and power while also 'terraforming' the planet of Mars (which involves creating oceans and forests, building cities, and raising the oxygen and temperature to a liveable standard. Players use cards, consisting of once-off abilities, passive effects, and reuseable actions to build a tableau and must manage their resources wisely. Terraforming Mars is a really well designed engine building game, a personal fav aspect of mine is that there's limited chances to mess with other players (my least fav thing about games of this genre is how one player can fuck up everything you built, that's not the case with this game).
- Complicated game with a steep learning curve. Not for new gamers or young kids!
- Can go on for quite long, esp with expansions!
- Recommended for those who like games which involve strategy and deep thinking
- I highly recommend playing with the 'draft variant' (explained in the rules)
Ticket To Ride
Ticket To Ride is a classic board game! Players must draw cards of the same colour to create train lines connecting stations to one another! Tons of maps exist for this game, including Europe, Asia, Amsterdam, and San Francisco, each with their own unique rule variant that keeps each game unique. Ticket To Ride is simple to learn and play, but there can be a lot of strategy involved! The winning player depends on what train lines you built (longer ones are worth more) and if you completed challenge cards where you have to connect one station to another using your lines!

Flamecraft
Flamecraft is a really cute game involving friendly dragons helping out in a village! Players place cards with cute dragon illustartions in various shops to produce goods or dazzle people with enchantments to gain reputation as an experienced dragonkeeper. The player with the most reputation wins! Flamecraft has a really nice gameplay hook that makes it fun to play and manages to retain a feel of simplicity while rewarding strategic thinking. This would be a great introduction to strategy games!
- Great for a chill night in with friends!
- Bonus points for cuteness!
